Finding Information on the Site

There are four ways to locate a information within this Web site:

  • Click a link in the left-side navigation list.
  • Enter one or more keywords into the Search box in the upper-right corner of the page.
  • Click a link within a page, whether within the text or on the right in a Related Pages box.
  • Go to the Site Map page and click the name of any page listed.

Click a link in the navigation list

The navigation list is located on the left side of each page.

      1. Click the name of the page you want to display.
      2. To see a list of pages in a multi-page category, click the small, gray arrow next to the page name.

Enter a keyword in the Search box

  • In the upper-right corner of the site header, type words (separated by commas) or a phrase (enclosed in quotation marks) and Click Search Site.
    A page showing search results is displayed. Click the title of any page you think has the information you are seeking.
Click a link within a page
  • Click underlined text to open a page with information related to the underlined text.

Go to the Site Map page

  1. In the left navigation list, click Index to Site Pages.
    The index lists all of the pages on this Web site in alphabetical order.
  2. Click a page name to open that page.

Search Multiple Web Sites for Washington State History topics

Now you can enter keywords into the Search box on any Granite Falls Historical Museum page and search dozens of museums, colleges, or organizations in Washington State who have history information on their Web site.
We've add a Google Custom Search to your search options on this site.

How to do it:

  1. Type keywords or phrases into the Search This Site box.


  2. Click the Down arrow, and then select Washington State History.
The results are displayed on a new page.

Note: Yes, there are ads on the results page. These ads allow the Museum to use Google Custom Search for free.

Enable Cookies to Use Online Searching

Your Internet browser must accept "cookies" if you want to search the Granite Falls history library online.  Cookies are small pieces of information downloaded to your computer that allow you to access a specific site, save information you enter at that site, or other functions that enhance your use of a site. Most Internet browsers allow you to specific if the browser should accept cookies and which kinds of cookies they should accept. 

Allow cookies in Internet Explorer

  1. On the IE menu bar, click Tools, and then click Internet Options.
  2. Click the Privacy tab.
  3. In the Settings group, select Medium-High to specify that the browser can accept third-party cookies that do not have a compact privacy policy or that use cookies to contact you without your explicit or implicit consent.
  4. Save your changes.

Allow cookies in FireFox

  1. On the FireFox menu bar, click Tools, and then click Options.
  2. Click the Privacy tab.
  3. Check the boxes for how you want cookies to be handled.
  4. Save your changes.
