About the Museum

As the Granite Falls area and the Mt. Loop Highway valley grow and change, our history and heritage become ever more important aspects of the community fabric.

The Granite Falls Historical Society is a volunteer, membership organization dedicated to honoring the contributions and lives of past residents and anchoring the city's roots in that past and to provide inspiration and direction for the future.

We began by purchasing the Sharp House to display items in our collection that illustrate how people lived in the early years of the community.

The main museum building opened to the public in 2007.The house remains a significant part of the museum, but was joined in 2007 by  a new museum building designed specifically to focus on the 100 years of industry, business, education, and recreation from the founding of Granite Falls in the 1890's to the present day.
